The Look program is a seven-level series for young learners of English. These Anthologies provide extra lessons to promote reading through real-world stories and fables.
I worked directly with the client’s team including their art director and editors to establish the general direction of each story. The integral part of the design on these pages was my careful selection and art direction of illustrators and photos. On all 464 pages of this product, I designed the layouts to provide reading material in a clear format while providing engaging visuals for young learners.

Hide and Seek is a three-level pre-primary course that has English language, literacy, numeracy and basic science at its core. This fun and colorful activity-based approach ensures the whole child is learning and developing along with the language.
I worked with the client to evolve their prototype into designs that meet all of the teaching criteria. For these early learners, some of which have not yet begun to read, it was important to have the visuals work hard to provide the teaching content in a clear and approachable manner.
The illustrated characters and scenes are the visual backbone to this product. I researched and found the right illustration style that provides the program-wide identity and lends itself to teaching images. Creating the concepts and art directing each of the scenes, I designed and art directed the pages for all components.
SQ Thinking provides easy-to-implement tangible executive functioning-based learning tools and training that helps educators and parents effectively teach 21st century thinking and independence. These are the intangible skills research tells us students need to succeed in school and beyond.
Three sets of tools—SQ Write, SQ Organize and SQ Sentence—have been created to help the user develop critical skills.
I worked directly with the content creator to design each component so that the pedagogy is supported and presented clearly and comprehensively. I also created the branding for the parent company, SQThinking, as well as all the products.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
This Grade 6-12 literature program ensures learners are growing and deepening the foundational critical thinking skills they need for long term success by engaging reading and writing instruction aligned with relevant, authentic literature.
Using the client’s design guidelines and template, I worked on the Grade 7 online and print components for the Student and Teacher Editions. I carefully implemented the design on over 500 pages in this product assuring that all details met the criteria for content and design of this widely regarded program.
The nature of this program is connecting artists with arts communities to promote the cultural climate of all participants. I created the identity for this not for profit residency program so that it would invoke both a sense of movement as well as the notion of a destination. No matter how long or brief the residency, the hope is that the connection is an enriching enhancement in the artists’ journey.
For this private practice offering individual counseling, I created the identity based on the powerful symbolism associated with a moth. Encompassing adaptation and metamorphosis with determination to to always uncover the darkness and seek the light, the moth is a beautiful symbol of growth and transformation.
I was thrilled to donate my design services to this literacy nonprofit in New York City. This program is created to inspire students to love reading and writing by bringing authors and their books into NYC schools. Using the author’s content as a spring board, student's create original written pieces with artwork. All final works are collected and printed into books for the students.
I designed the book “Survival of the Children” to highlight the students’ writings and artwork. The palate and page design were carefully considered so the serious subject matter is treated respectfully yet approachable.
